Dominic Stricker is playing at a very good levele this year, managing to match his 2022 record of two Challenger titles already this season. He won the Rovereto Challenger in Italy, and managed to win a clay Challenger in Prague in May, beating the likes of Meligeni, Svrcina, Krajinovic and Ofner. Now Stricker is back on the grass, where his game style should prevail. He started off well against Kudla and Peniston, beating them both in straight sets, but then lost to Murray in the quarter-finals 7-6 7-5. Stricker had to get through qualies to get into the main draw of Wimbledon this year, and beat Johnson, Ficovich and Bellucci relatively comfortably.
Alexei Popyrin
Alexei Popyrin, despite his huge serve, doesn’t have much success at Wimbledon, with the Australian going 1 out of 3 in the opening rounds. Popyrin hasn’t looked his best recently, and has struggled in his favourite surfaces. Surprisingly, he managed to get some form on the clay, beating the likes of lajovic, Griekspoor, O’Connell, Auger Aliassime and Safiullin. He’ll need to up his game if he’s to beat Dominic Stricker.
