Yosuke Watanuki

Watanuki has been rewarded a main draw appearance after getting through the qualification stages against Smith and Moriya. He’s had an okay year so far, with his best moments being the Forli 7 finalist (beating Maestrelli, De Jong, Marterer and Barrere) where he lost to Draper, and reaching the quarter-finals in Lyon where he beat Taberner, Martinez and Kwon. He’s been in a bit of bad form recently, so two strong wins in qualifying will give him a boost of confidence against Munar.

Juame Munar

Juame Munar has had one of his better years in 2022, winning two Challengers and grinding out some impressive results against solid players. Though similarily to Watanuki, he’s struggled with his form lately. The last time he’s won three or more matches in a row was back in Perugia Challenger in June, since then he’s seen losses against Sousa, Van De Zadschulp, RCB and more recently Rinderknech.
