Storm Hunter has had a really successful year so far, going 21-9 for the season. Surprisingly, her clay season has gone very well! She’s gone 9-3 so far, reaching the quarter-finals at Charleston (granted this is American green clay) and won four matches at Roland Garros, with her most notable winning being against Golubic and Parrizas-Diaz. But her best win came yesterday, where she beat Donna Vekic in three sets, as a huge 3.5+ underdog.

I’m really enjoying watching Noha Akugue’s game. The young German went professional in 2020 when she was just 16 years old, and went on an unbelievable run in Alkmaar where she won seven matches (3 qualifying matches), before losing in the final. The big win was against Schunk, where she beat her in straight sets as a 5+ underdog. That was her only professional tournament that year, but did play at the German Championships where she won, beating Niemeier in the process in the quarter finals. Since then, she won her first professional title in Cairo in 2022. After many more impressive ITF runs, she managed to break inside the top 200. From this, she’s managed to play some more tour level matches. Unforutnately she hasn’t had much success, but this changed the other day where she won her first ever WTA tour main draw match against Pigossi.
