Danka Kovinic had a good year in 2022, reaching the SF’s of Parma and Colina, and the finals at Buenos Aires. Her career has seen a lot of ITF titles, but all of them have come on the clay. In fact, her hard court record is pretty bad, losing 119 matches ut of 227. Kovinic is simply not suited to the hard courts, and we’ve seen this many times. Though she did put in some good performances against Teichmann and Pliskova at Indian Wells, the court conditions there are slow so it’s difficult to give comparison to these Australian quick courts here. This will be a tough match up for Kovinic.
