The 21 year-old had a breakout run in 2022, when he won his first ever Challenger in Zagreb on the clay beating the likes of Kubler, Adjukovic and Shang. He won a total of five ITF’s in 2021, and is now a Challenger regular since March 2022. He had an amazing run in Kitzbühel, where he shot up the rankings after making the final. He struggled to recreate that success afterwards, with his best result being in Lisbon Challenger where he made the semi finals. Misolic has had an average year, but he’s on his favourite surface and will be hoping to recreate some similar runs to last year.
Elias Ymer
Elias Ymer, a hit or a miss type of player! After a poor 2022, where he went 39-32, the Swede managed to step up the past couple of weeks. He had a poor start to the year, where he lost to Hsu, Celikbilek, Andreozzi and Fratangelo. But he’s back on clay, and has seemed to play better tennis. He made it to the R16 in Marrakech, where he took a set off Griekspoor. Though Griekspoor was very poor that day, so I’m not sure how much we can read into that result. This week he managed to get through qualifying in straight sets, and beat Coppejans in the first round in three sets. An impressive result against someone who is very competent on the clay.

I think the bookies are liking Ymer a bit too much after his recent results. Misolic is more talented on the clay, but has struggled with his form lately. With that being said, I have this match as a pick ‘em. On the day they play, Split is expected to have very windy conditions, so I like the play for both players to be broken in set 1.
