Swansea City Team News

Swansea City started the season pretty slowly but they woke up in the last couple of games. The expectation this season in Swansea is to have a better season than the last one when they finished in 15th place.

The manager Russell Martin took the job only a few days before the last season begin and he doesn’t have enough time to implement his ideology in this team and he didn’t sign the players. This season mostly because of that, everyone expects a much better season from Swansea. For now, it is.

Swansea started the season with one win in eight games but in the next 11 games, they won seven games and climbed from 21st to 7th place.

This team isn’t built with a lot of money. Swansea doesn’t spend too much money on players in the last couple of seasons, but they have a fantastic manager in Russell Martin who is one of the most talented managers in England.

They are two games without a win after a 1-1 draw with Bristol City and a midweek defeat at Preston, where they had 72% of time ball in their feet but they somehow lose that game.

Those three games until the World Cup break is very important. Swansea has to play against Wigan, Birmingham, and Huddersfield in the next seven days. These teams are 12th, 22nd, and 24th on the table. It’s a fantastic chance for Russell Martin’s team to improve point’s tail.

Swansea is a very interesting team to watch. They kept only four clean sheets but also failed to score in only five games. They like to have a ball in their possession and to play passing football.

Wigan Athletic Team News

The newcomer in the Championship had a very solid start to the new season but in the last couple of games, all fall apart. Wigan slipped into the relegation zone because they are in the run of five consecutive defeats and have seven defeats in the last eight games.

One of the reasons because of that bad run is injuries. Wigan has had a lot of injuries. Some players are returned to the team but a lot of them are not.

The club believe in the manager Leam Richardson and they give him a new contract recently. He led them to promotion from League One last season. But if they didn’t improve results pretty quickly they will be in a big problem. In the next seven days Wigan has to play against Swansea, Coventry, and Blackpool – 8th, 16th, and 20th on the table. The schedule isn’t too strong but they are in terrible form.

They didn’t score a goal in the last two games and kept only one clean sheet in the last eight games. Because of this bad run, Wigan spoiled their stats completely.

With 17 goals scored their attack is the four-worst in the league and with 26 goals conceded their defence is also the fourth-worst.

They met four times in the last 10 years. Swansea had won two games and the other two were finished with a draw. Three games ended with over 2.5 goals. Wigan last time beat Swansea in a league game in 2001.

Team News and Injuries

Swansea City: Matt Grimes is suspended.

Wigan Athletic: Ryan Nyambe, Callum Lang, Ben Amos, and Gwion Edwards are injured but Charlie Wyke is returned to the team.

Swansea City vs. Wigan Athletic Prediction

Swansea City comes into this game as a big favourite to win all three points. Mostly because they are in much better form than their rival Wigan who is struggling with injuries and results recently. Swansea finally started to play like everyone expected from them and at their Liberty Stadium they won four consecutive games and in every game, they scored at least two goals.

If Swansea plays as they know, there will not be questions about who will win all three points.
