After promotion to League One in 2021 and staying safe easily in the first season, Morecambe is struggling so much in his second season in the third tier. After 16 rounds they are 23rd in the table with only 12 points, the same as Burton who is in the last place, and Morecambe has only two wins this season.

This team was a relegation candidate last year but they somehow manage to stay in the league, this season they are in a very difficult situation. They lose a couple of key players during the summer and their top scorer from the last season Cole Stockton has terrible season so far. Stockton was one of the reasons why Morecambe stay in League One last season. He scored 23 goals and assisted four which earned him 3rd place on the top scorer’s list. Morecambe has won only one game from the last eight in all competitions and it was a surprising win against Barnsley where they have had only one shot on target.

Morecambe has the worst attack in League One with only 12 goals scored, they failed to score in 6 games this season and kept only two clean sheets in 16 games. With 26 goals conceded their defence isn’t the worst because five teams conceded more.

Derby County Team News

After its relegation from the Championship last season Derby County is in the third tier of English football for the first time after 30 years. The main goal this season is to get out of this league in the first attempt but it won’t be easy.

League One is very strong this season with 5 or 6 extremely good teams and Derby started the rebuilding process. At the start of October, they sacked an interim manager and appointed a new manager Paul Warne. Warne leaves Rotherham United in Championship to drop down one league and take a job at Derby County. Warne has an amazing CV and he has had three promotions from League One in recent years.

His record at Derby so far is 3-1-2 after six games in League One and there is a big space for improvement. Derby has four wins in the last seven games in the league and they are in 8th place in League One with 24 points. They have a game or two in the hand and only three points less than the teams in the playoff zone.

Derby doesn’t have a good attack and they scored only 19 goals but their defensive record is the best in the league with 14 goals conceded (three teams also conceded 14 goals). Simply, Paul Warne is that type of manager. His Rotherham side had the best defence in League One but not so good attack and they finished the last season in 2nd place.

The one thing that Warne must change is results away from home. Derby struggling away from home for a couple of seasons and if you want promotion – you must win games like this.
