Carlisle Team News

After fighting against relegation last season, Carlisle is one of the biggest surprises in League Two. Seven rounds before the end they are 4th in the table with 66 points and 18 wins. They are only two points behind Stevenage and four points behind Northampton.

The first three positions on the table guaranteed automatic promotion. Carlisle is in League Two since 2014 and this is their first time in the top 7 since the 2016/17 season.

Carlisle got into a bad run in the worst possible moment. They are four games without a win in the league and they failed to score a single goal in them. They slipped from 3rd to 4th place.

They have a very difficult schedule until the end of the season and the next two games are crucial. Because in the next two games in a space of three days, Carlisle will play against Tranmere and Walsall, two teams from the second half of the table. After these two games, they will play five games in a row against the teams who are in the top 9!

Carlisle is very good at home and only three teams have won more points at home than them. They are a very good attacking side with 58 goals scored and they failed to score in only five home games.

Against the teams from the second half of the table, they suffered only two defeats in 22 games this season.

Tranmere Team News

Tranmere is regressing in the last three seasons. They were 7th and 9th, and now they are 14th in the table with 50 points and 13 wins after 39 games.

Seven games before the season end they don’t have any chances to catch the playoff spot and to relegate from the league and they have nothing to play for.

Because of disappointing results, this season they sacked manager Micky Mellon in March and Ian Dawes takes charge of the team until the end of the season as interim manager.

Tranmere is five games without a win in the league and the run two consecutive draws. Only five teams are in worse form than them in the last two months.

In the last nine games, they have two clean sheets and failed to score three times. They are very inefficient with 38 goals scored and only four teams have the worst attack in the league than Tranmere. They failed to score in eight away games this season.

Carlisle vs Tranmere Prediction

Carlisle must win some points here. They needed it. In the space of three days, they have two winnable games before a very tough schedule in the last five games and they must take advantage of the next two games.

Both teams are struggling in the last few weeks. But the difference is that Carlisle is a good team who are in a little crisis and Tranmere is struggling throughout the whole season.

We believe that Carlisle can win this game.
