After an unsuccessful outing in Adelaide on Saturday, the Hawks travel back home to protect the Pit against a surging Breakers side. It has now become obvious that the Hawks are struggling to keep up with teams playing with just two imports. They manage to stay close in most of the games but lack that extra scoring effort that would get them over the line.
With four games behind them, they currently find themselves in 8th place with a measly 1-3 record. In order to prevent their team´s free fall in the standings, the management has to find a new import solution as soon as possible. Returnee Deng Deng has stepped up his game along with veteran Tim Coenraad, whois giving the Hawks valuable minutes off the bench, but they can´t be considered a serious contender with only two import players.

The New Zealand Breakers entered the new season adamant to restore their past glory. New head coach Mody Maor has been making the right calls so far, as his team recovered from a gut-wrenching opening round defeat to Melbourne with two strong wins over the JackJumpers and Melbourne Phoenix.
The Breakers are flying high after their Saturday´s away win against the Phoenix, but will enter today´s clash shorthanded and without their top import Barry Brown. Their team managed to cover for his absence in Melbourne, but they will need a bit more firepower to take down the Hawks. To increase their chances of winning, they decided to activate Jamaal Brantley who will make his NBL debut today.

Of course we could be wrong, but we completely disagree with the spread for this game. The Hawks are undermanned and lacking an import player who would give them stability with at least 15 ppg. On the other hand, the Breakers have a replacement for their absence.
In our opinion, the team from New Zealand has much better chances in this game than the odds suggest, so we will back them to cover the spread.
