Swansea Team News

The expectation before this season was much bigger for Swansea. They were in the middle of the table last season and Russell Martin took the job only days before the last season started he didn’t sign players and has no time to work with a squad. Now, in his second season, everybody expects better results, but Swansea is struggling a lot.

One of the major problems with this club is the transfer policy inside the club. They sold a lot of good players and didn’t invest money. Steve Cooper leave the club before last season because of that and Russell Martin has a very tough job.

The January transfer window was terrible. Probably one of the worst in England by any club. They lost their first goalkeeper due to injury, sold striker Michael Obafemi, and didn’t bring in any new players.

Russell Martin was furious with the board and in his first press conference after the January transfer window was closed he bring his whole staff to talk with journalists.

It’s very clear that Swansea has no chance to catch a playoff spot, because they are 15th in the table with 42 points and 11 wins, and they are 11 points far from 6th place.

Swansea has two consecutive defeats and they have won only one game from the last seven in all competitions. In the league, they are without back-to-back victories since October and in the last 17 games, they have only three wins!

Only five clubs have won fewer points than Swansea in that period. Swansea is playing beautiful football and Russell Martin is one of the most talented English managers, but he doesn’t have support from the board to build something.

Swansea is eight games without a clean sheet and failed to score only once in the last 11 league games. At home, they failed to score only once since September.

Rotherham Team News

Rotherham is probably the most famous yo-yo club in England. In the previous six seasons, they have had three promotions and three relegations between Championship and League One.

They were promoted from League One last season and this season in Championship they are in the relegation fight. After 33 games they are 20th in the table with 36 points and eight wins and they are five points above the relegation zone.

They started the season much better but at the start of October, they lost their manager Paul Warne who left the club to take a job at Derby County. Rotherham appointed Matt Taylor from Exter but with him, they slipped from 14th to 20th position. Taylor has a 5-7-11 record after 23 games and only five clubs have won fewer points since he took the job.

Rotherham won the last game against Sunderland last week and that was their first win after more than a month and after a run of five games without a win. Since the start of November, Rotherham has won only two games from the last 14!

Rotherham is very poor away from home. They failed to score in nine away games and they have only two wins in 17 games away from home. Only two teams have won fewer points. Rotherham is without a win away from home since the start of November.

Swansea vs Rotherham Prediction

Swansea is the favourite here, but both clubs are in very bad form. The only good thing at Swansea is their attack. In the previous five seasons, they have never scored 46 goals after 33 games, but they major issue is their defence. They have never conceded this amount of goals.

In this game, Swansea will probably have more than 60% possession, maybe even more, because that is their style of play. Rotherham is the team with one of the lowest possession per game in the league.

Rotherham is very poor with a new manager and they are poor away from home since the season started. We believe that Swansea can score more than once here but if they want all three points they must play much better in defence than in recent games.
