Meralco Bolts Team News

The return of Chris Newsome has provided the Meralco Bolts with some much-needed stability, but we have to say we expected more from them. Being one of the few teams in the season-ending tourney that kept its Commissioner´s Cup import player, the Bolts were poised to fight for the top 4, but currently find themselves in the middle of the pack with a modest 3-3 record.

Meralco won the games they were expected to win, suffered one slip up against the Terrafirma Dyip and then failed to make the breakthough against two title contenders as they went down to Tropa and the Beermen in the last two rounds.

Today´s matchup against the shorthanded Road Warriors gives them a solid opportunity to break their 2-game losing streak, but NLEX still have more than enough firepower to make their life difficult.

NLEX Road Warriors Team News

The wounded and undermanned NLEX Road Warriors are still reaping the benefits of Jonathon Simmons and his amazing performances. The star import left them after leading their team to four straight victories and that´s when things started going downhill.

The Road Warriors are still in pole position and alive in the top 4 battle, but their record with their new foreigner Wayne Selden stands at 1-2. The current trend doesn´t look very promising, while the injuries and absences of a couple of key role players only make NLEX´s situation more worrying.

Sean Anthony will remain sidelined until next month, but the good news is that Matt Nieto and Mike Miranda have returned to practice.

Meralco Bolts vs NLEX Road Warriors Prediction

The Road Warriors were facing the mighty Converge FiberXers with a shortened rotation, but still managed to prevail and notch a crucial 116:112 victory last Saturday. That says a lot about the character of Frankie Lim´s team, which will enter today´s clash without Anthony and with Miranda and Nieto as game-time decisions.

Despite their absences, we think that NLEX still have enough to fight for a win today. The Bolts have been a bit shaky, but defensively more than solid. Since their opponents will be lacking manpower, we doubt this game will transpose into a high-scoring one and decided to back the Total Under.
