Southland Sharks Team News
The Sharks haven´t had any luck this season with injuries and as a result they find themselves close to the bottom with just two wins after nine rounds. They had to play two games without their best player and Aussie NBL import Mojave King while their new import reinforcement Winston Shepard joined them only a couple of rounds ago.
Head coach Rob Beveridge had a terrible accident not too long ago and is still out and recovering after falling off a 6m roof. The absence of the coaching staff clearly affected their team which is now becoming desperate to win. In order to snap their 6-game losing streak they signed a new American import, Daishon Knight, who already played in the league for the Manawatu Jets between 2018 and 2021.
Their new import still hasn´t been cleared to play so he will remain a game-time decision while Southland´s starting centre and key rebounder Dom Kelman-Poto most definitely won´t play. He already travelled to Belgium to represent New Zealand at the upcoming FIBA 3×3 World Cup and his size on the boards will be dearly missed.

Manawatu Jets Team News
Despite sitting at the bottom, the Jets are currently the hottest team in the league. Manawatu´s roster consisted of solely domestic players at the start of the season so no wonder they were losing games and getting blown out. After Robert Crawford, John Bohannon, Shane Temara and Zane Najdawi finally arrived, the Jets immediately started delivering.
It all began around two weeks ago when they took down the Franklin Bulls away from home but their most memorable win was against the league leaders Auckland last week at home. It was a dramatic ending in which Auckland´s game-winner at the buzzer was waved off and the Jets came away with a surprising win.
The @manawatujets pull off an absolute stunner tonight, knocking off top-of-the-table Tuatara at home!
Najdawi with 31 & 8, Temara with 23, Crawford gets 20 and Bohannan with a near triple dub – 9/16/11
CJ with 27 & 12 in the loss; Loe with 24.#SalsNBL #LetsGo @skysportnz pic.twitter.com/ukVgKkgHwD

Southland Sharks vs Manawatu Jets Prediction
The Sharks are nowhere near their form from last season. They need a spark to get them going and their new import could provide that if he gets clearance to play. However, they will enter this game with a gaping hole in their frontcourt against the best rebounding team in the league so we will back the Jets to cover the spread.
