Albert Ramos-Vinolas

The 34 year old returns to Bastad in Sweden, where he grabbed his first tour title. He more recently in 2019 reached the semi’s, losing out to Londero. Ramos-Vinolas lost in the first round of Wimbledon to Casper Ruud, and quickly moved on to Germany (German tennis league) to play on clay. He narrowly lost out to Monteiro but beat Ilkel and Andujar. Though a loss to Monteiro isn’t great, it’s still a good sign that he’s already had some clay match practice before Bastad.

The Argentinian has been one of the top clay court players on the Challenger tour the past 18 months. Etcheverry’s forehand has been a true weapon on the challenger tour. He’s reached 6 finals in 2022 and 2021, winning 3 of them (all on clay). But he has never put a dent on the tour, not going past R16 once. This will be difficult again for Etcheverry, where he faces ARV in the first round.

Etcheverry beat Galan to make the main draw of Bastad, beating him 7-5 in the third. Though Galan was the better player, Etcheverry used his powerful forehand effectively to win the match. When he finds the consistency from the baseline and starts serving with a high first serve percentage, he can be very dangerous.
