Novak Djokovic

The man doesn’t need much introduction. Novak Djokovic has cemented himself as one of the greatest tennis players in history. He will be hoping he can get Grand Slam number 21 where he will finally overtake Roger Federer. If he does, only three players will have more grand slams in the modern era than Novak – Serena Williams (23), Rafael Nadal (22) and Steffi Graff (22).

The Serbian has had a relative comfortable draw, but despite this has dropped a set to Kwon, Van Rijthoven (who has an excellent game on grass), Sinner and Norrie. Jannik Sinner would have been the biggest scare for Djokovic, where he was 2 sets down to the Italian but came back in impressive fashion. Despite some scares, he has still looked unplayable most of the time he’s been on court.

Nick Kyrgios

You can say he’s a bit like marmite, you either love him or hate him. Nick Kyrgios has played stunning tennis so far this grass season, and when he’s mentally locked in he can beat anyone on tour. And this is exactly what Novak should be worried about. Despite nearly getting knocked out in the opening round, something which the Australian is used too (5 sets in his previous 2 R1 Wimbledon Matches against Humbert and Thompson), he’s looked locked in and very dominant.

With Nadal withdrawing from the semi’s, that let Nick get to his first ever Grand Slam final. Another bonus of this is the extra rest he will get. During his match against Nakashima, he was in clear discomfort. After the match he admitted that his shoulder was playing up, and it was likely due to the fact of the amount of matches he’s played – something which he wasn’t particularly used to anymore. A straight sets win over Garin and a walkover against Rafa is exactly what he needs to be fresh for the final.

H2H

Nick Kyrgios holds a 2-0 record against Djokovic, both coming on hard courts. Both those matches were in straight sets, one at Indian Wells and the other at Acapulco.

Novak Djokovic vs. Nick Kyrgios Prediction

There’s no doubt that this should be a closely contested match. Considering that, We’ll be playing the O3.5 sets (also known as both players to win a set!). The odds are currently suggesting a 22.5-25% chance for Kyrgios to win, and I’d personally have him closer to the 35% mark. So when playing the value game, I would also say Kyrgios money line would be a good bet too.
