Murray vs. Ymer Prediction, Tips & Odds – Aug. 01, 2022 23:00 CET

After raking in a couple of wins in Newport, Andy Murray has finally come back into the top 50 in rankings. He’ll be hoping he can improve further in this week’s ATP Washington.

Andy Murray
The Brit has had an okay season so far, considering his metal hip. He’s made two finals this year on the ATP tour, one on the grass in Stuttgart recently and the other in Sydney back in January.
Murray’s serve has been very good this year, holding a total of 84% of the time (a slight improvement in comparison to 2021 by 3%). Now add Murray’s elite returning abilities, and he becomes a tricky opponent to anyone despite his decrease in mobility. He’s had a couple weeks break since his last tournament on the grass in Newport, and has been training at Washington earlier this week. He’ll be hoping he can make a good run this week, and climb the rankings even more.

Mikael Ymer
The 23 year old has had a pretty appaling year so far, dropping out the top 100. His record this year is 10-15, with his best result in Montpellier straight after the Australian Open where he made the semi finals. Since that run, he’s gone 4-9, with his only wins coming against Duckworth (clay), Evans (clay), Gray (grass) and Altmaier (grass).
He’ll be hoping to replicate some of the form he found last year in the US, where he made the finals of Winston Salem. But the way it’s going, that doesn’t seem at all likely.
Tweener winner @MikaelYmer. Djokovic applause.

Murray vs. Ymer Prediction
With Andy Murray’s excellent returning ability, and his hold record being close to 85%, I see the handicap being closer to 4.5 games. Ymer’s hold record has only been at 70%, and can see Murray breaking 3/4 times during the match. The Brit should roll!
