Juame Munar strung together two very solid wins, as an underdog, against Musetti and Tabilo to reach the quarter-finals of Santiago. This was the first time Munar has strung two wins in a row since August last year in Cincinnati. He’s never had much luck in Santiago, playing every year since 2020, holding a 1-3 record before this week. He’s picking up some much needed form, and will need to be at his best to beat hard-hitting Monteiro.

Monteiro is back in Santiago, where he has reached the quarter-final twice the previous two times he’s played. He hopes to break this quarter-final curse today. Monteiro has looked very strong this week, beating Ramos-Vinolas and Cecchinatto in three sets. His serving was emaculate against Cecchinatto in R16, where he only conceded ONE break point in his 13 service games against the Italian. Monteiro has a great chance to grab his first ever ATP title, with the top two seeds out already.
