Dominik Koepfer

Koepfer came back from injury in June, and struggled in his first opening games but finally managed to get some wins under his belt during the North America US Open swing. More notably getting into the second round of Washington, beating Kwon in the first round and narrowly losing to Khachanov.

Koepfer has decided to go back to another challenger event, this time in Vancouver. He played some excellent tennis in the opening round and beat upcoming star Zimbos Piros 6-2 6-3.

Constant Lestienne

Lestienne has stepped it up this year, where he’s won two challenger titles and has got into the top 100. He’s chosen to play mainly Challenger tournaments this year, and will be interesting to see when he makes that transition to tour level tournaments how he will cope against much tougher opponents.

Dominik Koepfer will be a good test for him to see where his level lies.

Prediction

This will be a great match to watch, and as impressive Lestienne has been this year, I do think Koepfer deserves to be a slightly larger favourite. Koepfer’s tennis is improving match by match, and Lestienne didn’t look too convincing in his match against Lokoli. The -1.5 games handicap here is a nice take for this match.
