Denis Kudla
Denis Kudla has had an okay year, though has been in pretty dire form the past few weeks. He started off 2022 with some mediocre results, but went to America and managed to win his first Challenger title in two years in Phoenix (beating Krueger, Moraing, Gasquet, JJ Wolf and Altmaier), the week after he managed to qualify for Miami and was beaten in the third round to Kokkinakis in a three set thriller.
Kudla won’t be happy with his performances the past few weeks, after his good run in the Surbiton Challenger where he reached the final, he’s struggled to make an impact in most of his tournaments. Though, he has had a tough draw most of the time, recently facing Giron, Opelka, McDonald and Sonego. He will be hoping he can regain some of his old form this week, in time for the US Open.

Thiago Monteiro
Thiago Monteiro comes in to this week wanting some form of match practice on hard courts before the US Open. Hard’s has never been his strong suit, with all of his Challenger titles coming on clay and over 75% of his matches being on the clay.
Though he did surprise many at the start of the year in Australia, beating Altmaier, Nishioka and Monfils during the Aussie swing, he’s never been able to get consistent results on hards. He played in the qualication rounds in Cincinatti earlier this month, and did beat Nava but lost to Laaksonen in three sets as a heavy favourite.
