Cem Ilkel is running into some nice form after a pretty disappointing 2022, where he lost eleven matches in his first fourteen matches during the year (not including Davis Cup). He picked up some form towards the end of the year, getting to the final of the Vilnius Challenger from the qualification stages, and then reaching the semi finals of Bratislava Challenger (beaating Sachko, Bergs, Marchenko and Van Rijthoven). Ilkel has seen similar form to the start of the year, reaching the semi final at Oerias 5 and Vilinus 2 Challengers, and losing in the final to Virtanen in Lugano the other week. He beat some high level Challenger players that week (Klein, Ritschard and Escoffier).
Ricardas Berankis
Berankis is far from his top game, where he was ranked 50 at the peak of his career. Now he see’s himself outside the top 200, and will be hoping he can try and fight to earn some crucial ATP points. Berankis has had some success in this Challenger tournament, winning it in 2018 where he beat Lestienne in the final and reaching the semi finals a year later losing to Majchrzak. The Lithuanian has shown good signs in the Challenger circuit this year, beating the likes of Grenier, Gombos and Laaksonen.
