For the past two years, he has played only at grand slams and masters, with occasional appearances at ATP tournaments held in North America. Isner is recognizable as one of the best servers on the ATP tour, and has a special connection with Wimbledon. He played the two longest matches in tennis history on these courts. In 2010, the match against Nicolas Mahut lasted three days, and Isner won the last set 70:68. The second-longest match was played in the Wimbledon semifinals in 2018, but then Isner lost to Kevin Anderson at 26:24 in the fifth set.
