Kovacevic has had a blistering start to the year despite a dissapointing loss to Taberner as a favourite at the Australian Open. He came back to the US, regrouped and won his first ever Challenger title (Beating Rybakov, Marchenko, Johnson, Gomez and Wu). A couple weeks later he returned to the ATP circuit, and lost to Mmoh in three sets. Mmoh went on to cause an upset to Shapovalov the round after. The American has had a strong start to this week’s Challenger, beating Mannarino and Mejia in straight sets. These fast outdoor courts are looking comfortable for the big server, and will be hoping to win his second Challenger title of his career.

Borna Gojo

Borna Gojo had a good 2022, going 40-28. He won his first ever Challenger title in Ortisei towards the end of the year. The Croatian has had a strong start to the year, going 3-0 at the United Cup, but disappointingly losing to Coppejans in Tenerife where the conditions were slightly slower. These faster conditions will make Gojo happier, but will need to up his game to beat the in-form Kovacevic.
