This summer, one era of New Orleans Saints was over. The man who led the team for the previous 15 years retired quite unexpectedly. Drew Brees decided that was enough and the 2010 SuperBowl winner turned to the commentary business. Instead, Jameis Winston took the place of the starting quarterback. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback has always been considered someone who has a great throw, however precision used to be a problem, i.e. the number of balls intercepted per game. Saints goal is to find themselves in the playoffs without Brees, and that won’t be easy at all in the NFC where there are a large number of competitors for those spots. A possible win against the Buccaneers would help a lot, but it needs to be done on the field.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers were considered one of the most losing franchises in the last 15 years, and then a miracle happened. Out of all expectations, Tom Brady decided to leave the New England Patriots and join the Bucs. Many thought it could ruin his legacy, but Brady confirmed he was the best of all time by taking the team to the Super Bowl at 44, although throughout the playoffs they had no home-field advantage except in the grand final. Almost the entire team stayed together, and Brady, even at 45, looks like a young man and defies the laws of physics. The Bucs are perhaps the best team in the entire NFL and are the first favorites from the NFC to play in the Super Bowl again. Bruce Arians announced that the ambition is to win the championship again, and the precondition for all that is to win the division where the main rival is the New Orleans Saints.

Injuries

In this match, New Orleans Saints will not have Andrus Peat, Dwayne Washington, Taysom Hill, and Payton Turner, while the performance of Deonte Harris is questionable.

Buccaneers will certainly not have Antonio Brown, and it remains to be seen whether Rob Gronkowski, Jason Pierre-Paul, Richard Sherman, and Lavonte David will run on the field. The listed players either missed training sessions or were limited.

Previous results and H2H

So far this season, the Bucs have scored 6-1, while the Saints are at 4-2. The only defeat, Tampa Bay franchise suffered from the Los Angeles Rams, while the Saints lost to the Caroline Panthers and New York Giants.

Saints won both games in the regular season against the Buccaneers last season, however, the Bucs celebrated in the most important one played in the playoffs.

Prediction

Pick: New Orleans Saints +6
Odds: 1.72
Bookmaker: Bet365

Buccaneers are without a doubt a better team than Saints, however, Sean Payton’s team knows how to play against quality opponents, and at home, carried by a great crowd, they can certainly beat the Bucs. The 6-point handicap is really big and the impression is that the bookmakers underestimated the Saints.
