One of the most interesting NFL Week 8 games will be played in Los Angeles…
Baltimore Ravens @ Detroit Lions | NFL – Sep. 26, 2021
With the arrival of Matt Patricia as head coach in 2018, the Detroit Lions had hoped that through years of rebuilding they would be in a position to be one of the factors in the NFC. After three seasons of joint cooperation, the epilogue was the complete collapse of the system. Patricia was sacked after winning just 13 of 30 matches, and team leader and quarterback Matt Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. New head coach Dan Campbell starts from the bottom. The team is in complete rebuilding and it won’t be a surprise if they don’t achieve even two wins this year. One of the biggest problems will be the new starting quarterback Jared Goff, who did not achieve even a per mille of what was predicted. It is almost certain that they will have one lost ball because of him, and that is something that the Lions cannot afford. Pass play is almost non-existent and it all depends on the mood of running backs D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.
The Baltimore Ravens are legitimate candidates to win the SuperBowl this season. Lamar Jackson is in a kind of vengeful mood after several failed episodes in the playoffs in previous years. The Ravens are one of the teams that best defends running in the entire league, and that is an additional problem for the Lions, since, as already mentioned, their game through the air is almost non-existent. Last week, the Ravens defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, and looking through history since John Harbaugh became head coach, the Baltimore team continued to grind after big wins, especially when they would face clashes against much weaker opponents like the Lions.
Jamie Collins will not be part of the Lions because he requested a trade which is an additional problem for the Detroit franchise. Trey Flowers hasn’t trained all week and we’ll almost certainly not see him on Sunday, just like Tyrell Williams who was put on the injured list.
The Baltimore Ravens will not have a tight end Ronnie Stanley, then safety DeShon Elliot, nor Derek Wolff. Lamar Jackson was ill during the week, but he trained at full capacity on Friday and will be available today.
These teams last played each other in 2017 when the Ravens easily beat the Lions in Baltimore. In the first two rounds of this season, the Ravens first lost unexpectedly to the Las Vegas Raiders, to then defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, the AFC’s best team. The Lions experienced a debacle against the San Francisco 49ers in the first week, only to lose another match, this time to the Green Bay Packers.
Prediction: Baltimore Ravens -7 (Ravens win by eight or more, if exactly seven for Ravens, bet returns)
The Ravens are one of the top two AFC teams and one of the best teams in the NFL overall. After the win against the Chiefs, the team is full of confidence and there will certainly be no relaxation in Detroit. The Lions, on the other hand, are one of the three weakest teams in the entire league and it’s hard to believe they can threaten an opponent from Baltimore in any way. Even where they could potentially be good, and that’s a running game, the Ravens are defending it brilliantly.
