The Colorado Avalanche welcomes the Edmonton Oilers in game 1 of the Western Conference finals. The playoffs immediately turned into a grind for the Oilers who needed seven games to eliminate the LA Kings in the opening round. They were at a much higher level in round 2 against Calgary winning comfortably in five games and should be able to challenge the best team in the conference. On the other hand, Colorado swept the Predators in round 1 and then took down the Blues in six games to advance to the Conference final for the first time in over 20 years.

Colorado´s offense continued its good form from the regular season and has been putting up sensational numbers in the playoffs so far. After averaging almost 3.8 goals per game during the regular season, they are now scoring an impressive 4.3 goals per game in the playoffs.

The Predators and the Blues couldn´t handle their powerful attack led by Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen. Their two top lines are getting strong support from the rest of their offensive unit, but also from their defense which is one of the most efficient ones in the league in terms of scoring goals.

After finishing in fifth place in the regular season, the Oilers are enjoying an unexpected playoff run and will look to upset the Avalanche. In round 1 the gritty Kings were always going to be a tough opponent but Edmonton prevailed in a dramatic seven-game series.

Going up against one of the title favourites, the Calgary Flames, they were the clear underdogs but managed to progress into the final in an impressive fashion. It was a remarkable turnaround by the Oilers after they got ravaged in the opener conceding nine goals and losing 9:6. After that, they gave the Flames no chance of winning four straight games led by their spectacular duo of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

So far they combined for an incredible total of 14 goals and 38 assists in the playoffs terrorizing defenses and goalies. They also finished off the Flames in a dramatic game 5 overtime with McDavid scoring the game-winner and also giving Draisaitl his seventh assist in the last two games of the series.
