Carolina Hurricanes vs. Boston Bruins Prediction, Tips & Odds – May. 05, 2022

The Carolina Hurricanes expectedly got the ball rolling in the opening game of their Eastern Conference round 1 clash against the Boston Bruins who entered the playoffs as a wild card team. After a superb regular season and winning the Metropolitan Division, the Hurricanes are one of the top playoff contenders in the East and will be looking to sweep the Bruins.
Carolina Hurricanes
After winning their sole NHL title back in 2006, the Hurricanes seem poised for big things again. They finished the regular season in second place and secured the top spot in their division regularly taking care of the Bruins. Their excellent form and head-to-head record against Boston continued in the playoffs as they showed them no mercy in the opener crushing them 5:1.
The Bruins did have their chances but couldn´t convert them. On the other hand, home team was dominant from the start but could play even better. Job was much easier for the Canes as the guests entered the contest without their primary option in net Frederik Andersen. It took a while for Carolina to open the scoring but once they found the first goal near the end of the second period, the floodgates opened and the Bruins failed to keep up.

Boston Bruins
The Bruins started game 1 with a major disadvantage in goal but their experienced and elite team managed to keep them in the game for almost two full periods. The final scoreline looks very bad but it actually isn´t a true reflection of what happened on the ice.
It is unknown when their starting goaltender Frederik Andersen will return, but what is certain he won´t be starting game 2. Another huge blow for his team which is already facing enough adversity playing against one of the strongest teams in the conference with statistically the best defense.
#NHLBruins updates per Coach Cassidy:
▪️ Linus Ullmark will start Game 2
▪️ Hampus Lindholm will play with Brandon Carlo
▪️ Matt Grzelcyk will pair with Charlie McAvoy pic.twitter.com/ifTyTagXEK— Boston Bruins (@NHLBruins) May 3, 2022
Carolina Hurricanes vs Boston Bruins Prediction
The Bruins kept it tight against Carolina in game 1 even with their backup goaltender in net. 5:1 scoreline is a bit exaggerated but overall we feel Boston won´t get a better result this time. They will surely give Carolina a run for their money but in the end we expect the home team to prevail and will back them to win including possible overtime and penalties.
