Magnitogorsk are only one win away from winning their first KHL title after eight years. In the 2016 final they faced the same opponent in view of CSKA Moscow and managed to get the better of them in a dramatic 7-game final series. At the moment they hold a comfortable 3:1 lead with a chance to lift the trophy on home ice with another win this Tuesday.

As the top-seeded team from the Eastern Conference, Magnitogorsk were one of the main title favourites heading into the playoffs. They had three very tough series against Barys Astana, Omsk and Traktor Chelyabinsk but proved their worth and made it to the finals.
They opened this series with a 3:1 home defeat but then took full control with three straight wins. In the opening two games their goalie and defense were struggling to contain CSKA conceding a total of seven goals. In the last two games it seems they finally figured things out as their netminder Vasily Koshechkin managed to shut out the team from Moscow twice in a row.

CSKA Moscow
After winning their premiere KHL title in 2019, it seems very likely the Red Army team will have to wait for one more year to repeat that success. They somehow made it through a tight 7-game semi-finals against SKA St. Petersburg but it seems they running out of tricks and ideas in the final.
After failing to score a single goal twice in a row and losing both of those games, they now travel beneath the Ural Mountains to try to keep series alive. Facing a team with star Canadian scorers like Brendan Leipsic and Josh Currie they will be in for an uphill battle. Also not helping them is the fact their team has to be psychologically affected by not scoring for two whole games. Against the same goalkeeper today they will be feeling all the pressure. Usually, the pressure always tends to get to CSKA at crucial moments so we believe today´s game will be no exception.
