Finland vs Canada Prediction, Tips & Odds – May 29, 2022 19:20 CET

An old rivalry will be reignited in the 2022 IIHF World Championship final. An epic clash awaits us in Tampere this Sunday as the hosts Finland take on Canada whose team managed to overcome all the difficulties so far. It will also be a repeat of last year´s final when Canada won the gold after overtime.
Finland
The hosts couldn´t have asked for a better opportunity to exact revenge after losing 3:2 to Canada in the final in last year´s edition of the tournament. They will have more than 10 000 fans behind them who will be hoping for another gold after Finland finally managed to win its maiden Olympic title in Beijing.
Finland is famous for two things – lakes and hockey. Since hockey is by far the most popular sport in the country they even had a full arena when they faced the weakest team in their group, Great Britain. No doubt the atmosphere will be electric in this final but Canada´s NHLers are used to playing in front of packed arenas and have more than solid chances after demolishing the Czech Republic yesterday.
After overcoming an early deficit against Slovakia in the quarter-final, the Finns fell behind early once again in the semi-final against the US. With the help of their NHL defender Miro Heiskanen, who notched a goal and two assists, they managed to come back and win 4:3 in an epic battle that went down to the wire.
In a hard-fought, back-and-forth semis clash, Finland defeated the U.S. 4-3 in Tampere to advance to the 2022 #IIHFWorlds final.

Canada
After two lethargic performances and unexpected losses to Switzerland and Denmark at the end of the group stage, the Canadians are finally looking like the defending champions. In the quarter-final they faced their toughest opponent so far – a surging Swedish side that was eager to make up for poor results from the Olympics and the previous World Championship.
After the second period ended, it seemed like the Canadians were packing their bags because they were down 3:0 and looked hopeless. However, they came out firing in the last period and produced the most memorable comeback of the tournament. First they cut the deficit to 3:1 after only a minute of play in the period and then scored two late goals to tie the game with less than two minutes remaining in regulation.
Momentum completely shifted in their favour after that and they took advantage of it by scoring an early powerplay goal in overtime to win the game. That win rejuvenated them because yesterday they crushed a powerful Czech Republic side in the semis giving the Czechs no hope whatsoever after conceding an early goal. Canada has an all-around team with scoring options in every line and that was clearly on display against the Czechs, as one of their youngest members of the team, Dylan Cozens, had an impressive game scoring two goals and grabbing an assist.
Canada scored three goals in the second period to break a 1-1 tie and skated to a 6-1 win over Czechia to advance to the #IIHFWorlds championship game.
