Hosts Ticino received some help from their parent top-tier club Lugano just when the Olympic break started. They had some players return recently so they will be able to count on almost all of their key pieces except for the American attacker Matthew Wilkins who got injured at the end of last year. His absence was one of the major reasons their form suffered a huge drop in the last month and half so the club had to react. After a long search they finally found a replacement around a week ago by bringing in very talented Finnish attacker Atte Karppinen. After three games for his new team he already scored a goal and established himself as one of Winterthur´s primary offensive options.

With a win in regulation and all three points away team can tie themselves with the hosts. On the other hand, with all three points home team can create a gap of six points over Winterthur.
Even though Winterthur lost against Ticino 5:2 less than a week ago, they outshot them by 38:22 and deserved much more from that game. Before that game Winterthur managed to stay undefeated in regulation in all three previous head-to-head meetings this season.
