Sweden and Czech Republic meet in the second round of the IIHF World Championship in Tampere in a very important fixture for both teams. As one of the main title contenders, Sweden is expected to finish close to the top in a group which contains a couple of title favourites. Czech Republic on the other hand should also progress but will have a very hard game against the favourites in the group.

Czech Republic arrives to this competition with a pretty strong roster and can definitely compete immediately with the top teams. Led by Tomaš Hertl from the San Jose Sharks they should be able to finish inside the top 4 and enter the knockout stage. A medal seems out of reach for them but all of the top teams can´t underestimate them and will have a tough time against them.
They looked impressive during the preparation stage and some claim they can even stun Sweden. There is certainly no lack of attacking talent in their team but, overall, betting on the winner of this game is risky.

Swedes are taking these competitions seriously aiming for the gold. With a good core of players from Europe along with a couple of formidable NHL names like Oliver Ekman Larsson, a medal is a must for them after failing to win one at the Olympics and the last World Championship.
They will have no lack of motivation because of that so we should expect some strong performances from them. After preparing well with lots of friendly matches they will be ready for the competition as Czech Republic is one of the teams that can cause them trouble. With a wealth of NHL players, they can score goals and look dangerous offensively so Sweden will have to be careful.
