Ambri-Piotta vs. Fribourg-Gotteron Prediction, Tips & Odds – Mar. 08, 2022

End of the Swiss National League A regular season is approaching very fast. With only a couple of rounds left Ambri´s chances of making the playoffs are slim because they are nine points behind Bern and the final playoff position. They still have five games left and 15 points available but overall they have a mountain to climb if they want to enter the postseason.
Until the last round and their win over Bern, Ambri were still winless after the Olympic break. They suffered four straight defeats and made their playoff battle extremely difficult. In the last couple of rounds, they will have to hope Bern struggle and drop some points if they want to have any chance of closing in on 10th place and the playoff zone. They have a game in hand over Bern and also a head-to-head match with them this Wednesday so they could still pull off the impossible and surpass them in the standings.
Ambri currently don´t have a lot of roster problems and have every right to be optimistic hosting one of the top teams in the league second-placed Fribourg. At the moment it doesn´t matter who they are playing against because they desperately need all the points they can get. They enjoy playing at home much more than away. They come from the Italian part of Switzerland and have some of the best fans in the league which is an important factor. The atmosphere should be electric as always in their arena which explains their very solid home record of 10 wins and 13 losses compared to only 7 wins and 17 losses away from home.
During the Olympic break they brought in two new reinforcements – Finnnish goalkeeper Janne Juvonen, who came from KHL team Jokerit who abruptly ended their season, and Canadian forward Cory Conacher. He was loaned in from their biggest playoff rivals Bern until the end of the season because his former club had to get rid of his contract in order to sign some new players. He is one of the most profilic forwards in the league and is already proving to be a huge addition for Ambri in their offense.
Their opponents Fribourg have already secured a direct quarter-final playoff berth. Currently they are only playing for a better placement and have no real incentive as their coach has already announced they will be trying out new tactics and different lines for the playoffs. They were already experimenting in their last two games and lost both to Zug(3:4) and Lugano(2:5).
Their roster is incomplete as some players are injured and some under suspension which will make today´s game against a very motivated home team even more difficult. Once again we should expect them to mix their usual lines and field some youngsters which an experienced and quality home side like Ambri should be able to take advantage of.
Ambri-Piotta vs. Fribourg-Gotteron Prediction
At this stage every game is a must-win for Ambri. Fribourg lack the motivation and won´t have their ideal starting lineup which gives an excellent opportunity to Ambri to win points against one of the teams from the top of the table.
In head-to-head games Ambri already prevailed against Fribourg at home at the very start of the season in September(6:2). They lost in Fribourg´s BCF Arena in mid-October(1:3) but then once again beat them 4:2 at home in a friendly these teams played during the Olympic break around a month ago.
