The usual suspects are impressing!

From the first race, we’ve seen who are the top teams and drivers. The first two practice sessions on Friday solidified who’s going to be competing for the race win this weekend. Verstappen had a dominant first practice, beating second place Lewis Hamilton by .433 seconds. While Alonso topped Practise 2 before it started raining, with an impressive Leclerc in second. Ferrari have been the surprise on Friday, with the car being stronger than expected. Data, according to the F1 article, suggests that Ferrari are the second fastest on qualifying pace, 0.14s clear of rivals Aston Martin.

Magnusson struggling?

Magnusson struggled on Friday in both practise sessions. He finished last in both (20th and 19th, in FP2 Ssrgeant didn’t start). As much as we can try to blame this on the car, the Haas is the 7th fastest car, and team mate Hulkenberg showed that. The German finished 13th and 9th in FP1 and FP2.

Alpine continuing to look strong

Alpine are in a bit of a stale-mate situation. They’re clearly nowhere near the front of the pack competing against the Red Bull’s, Ferrari’s and Aston Martin’s. But they’re comfortably ahead of the likes of the McClaren, Haas and AlphaTauri. The last race was a good example of this, where both Econ and Gasly finished in 8th and 9th. Ocon has been qualifying well so far this season, beating his teammate twice. The group odds looks like a good option.
