The last game in this 35th Round in Championship will be played on Monday at The Hawthorns.

WBA starting to fall apart from the middle of December. They were 3rd on the table in the middle of December and everyone saw them as the main contender to Fulham and Bournemouth for the top 2 spots. But, since then they had won only once in the last 11 games! Because of that terrible run of results, they slipped to 13th place on the table and now the top 6 zone is 8 points away.

Valerien Ismael got sacked. Steve Bruce came in. But, the results are still very poor. The main problem during the whole season is the pass in the final third. WBA is very ineffective and scores very few goals. Their attack is 19th in the Championship with 35 goals scored and only 5 teams in the league have the worse attack than them. An unbelievable stat is that WBA finished 8 of the last 11 games without scoring a goal! Their only win came against Peterborough United who is the worst team in this league, by far.

Steve Bruce changed the formation a lot in his first couple of games. He started with 4-4-2, then moved to 3-5-2, and for the last game against Middlesbrough, he chose the 4-3-3 system.

The January signing Daryl Dike is injured, and the club’s top scorer Karlan Grant, who scored 10 goals, has been without a goal in the last 6 games.

Swansea City

Nice football, but not effective. That’s how you can describe Swansea this season. Russell Martin is a very talented manager, and one which we will see in the Premier League very soon, but this season with Swansea he is struggling a lot. He took charge of the team a couple of days before the season started, so he didn’t have enough time to do pre-season and to select the players. That is one of the reasons why Swansea struggles so much.

The fans start to question his methods after the run of five defeats in the last seven games and 17th place on the table. But, Martin says that he will not change his system. Swansea is a passing team, with a lot of ball in their possession. They have 64.6% ball possession per game, and 514 passes per game. But, that kind of football isn’t effective.

Swansea is struggling to create chances because the opponent is usually in a good defensive block which they can’t break. They scored only 32 goals, three less than WBA, and they have 10.4 shots on goal per game (only five teams have fewer).

The strikers Joel Piroe and Jamie Paterson are Swansea’s top scorers with 12 and 8 goals, but they scored only one goal together from the middle of December.

In the first game, this season Swansea had won 2-1 at the Liberty Stadium back in October. Four of their last five games in the Championship finished with over 2.5 goals.

WBA vs. Swansea City Prediction

This is a crucial game for the hosts because if WBA wants to be into the playoff, they can allow losing more points. The top 6 zone is now 8 points away. Swansea is in the second part of the table with 15 points above the relegation zone, so they will be safe, but the pressure on Russell Martin is huge because of his style of play.

Both teams want points here, and we will not go for a full-time tip. We chose goals. As we said, both teams are struggling with creating chances, and with scoring goals, so this is a game of two very poor teams in front of a goal.
