It is really hard to place exactly where Sheff Wed are at the moment. Just when you feel you have them, they deliver a woeful performance, which is exactly what happened last weekend. In a game where they never looked like scoring let alone winning, Wednesday were beaten 0-2 at Hillsborough against Barnsley. Recruitment has been impressive, with the addition of Malik Wilks, Alex Mighten, Will Vaulks, David Stockdale, Ben Heneghan, Michael Ihiekwe, Mark McGuinness, Tyreeq Bakinson, and last season’s League One goal machine – Michael Smith. For all that, a combination of injuries, suspensions and rotation has left Wednesday fans eager to see more from the new additions which, at the moment, look like they need time to gel, understandably. The Owls are likely to be without Defender Ben Heneghan, Dennis Adeniran and longer term absentee Akin Famewo. Here lies the concern, two defenders that looked really good are unavailable and there are serious question marks over Dominic Iorfa’s performances since returning from long-term injury. Wednesday have the ability in the squad to embarrass most teams in this league but are they at the top of their game right now? I’m not convinced.
Plymouth narrowly missed out on securing a playoff spot last season and they have started this season with the intention to go one better. The Pilgrims currently sit in 3rd place, two points ahead of Saturday’s rivals Wednesday. While it’s early days, a five point buffer on this season’s promotion favourites will do absolutely no harm to Plymouth’s confidence and that will be the exact target here. The Pilgrims are currently on a three game winning run dispatching fellow promotion hopefuls Derby and Bolton along the way. If we assess Plymouth’s home form so far, they have won all three, scoring 5 and conceding none, this stacks up well as those games were against Peterborough, Bolton and Sheff Weds recent conquerors Barnsley. I get the impression Home Park will be one of the tougher places to visit this season and I’m quite keen on the hosts’ chances here.
Plymouth opened up at Pinnacle 3.32 for the win which currently sits at 2.97 at the time of writing. Handicap lines on Plymouth have been nibbled and that’s the direction I’m going to go with this one.
I am keen on Plymouth here. At what I feel is a decent line for the hosts, I am going to take them on the Asian Handicap. If you want to be braver, Plymouth 0.0 (Draw No Bet) is solid at 2.13 with Bet365.
