When he took over Ludogorets in 2010, Kiril Domuschiev wanted to create a club that would achieve great results in Europe. Without any problems, Ludogorets became a force in Bulgaria. They won 11 consecutive domestic championships, but in Europe they never got where Domuschiev wanted. They played the Champions League group stage twice, both times when the coach was Georgi Dermendzhiev.
In the last five seasons, they played every time group stage in the Europa League, and three times they finished in last place in their group. Ludogorets made a lot of mistakes in past with coaching choices and they never invested money to bring in a famous name.
Now, that position is held by Ante Simundza, the man who lead Maribor to the group stage in the Champions League back in 2014. He also won the title with Mura in 2021 and after that, he guided them to the Conference League group stage.
Last year in the Champions League qualifiers, Mura played against Ludogorets and those matches recommended Simundza for the job. This summer, Ludogorets didn’t change squad much. Main ambition and focus is on achieving the best possible result in Europe, and the first obstacle will be Sutjeska.

Last season, Sutjeska won the title in Montenegro in a very dominant way. Already during the winter break, it was clear that they would be champions and they could fully prepare for Europe. However, they didn’t do it in the best way and this summer they were left without few important players.
One of them is national team player Vladimir Jovovic, who signed for Jablonec. In the history of Montenegro, not a single club has reached the group stage of any European competitions, and Sutjeska is hoping that they could change that.
Three years ago, they made a sensation in the Champions League qualifiers when they eliminated Slovan Bratislava on penalties. However, after that they were first kicked out by APOEL and then by Linfield in the Europa League qualifiers.
The hero then was goalkeeper Vladan Giljen, who is still one of the best individuals in the team. Sutjeska is going in Razgrad with an ambition to achieve good result in Bulgaria, which would give them a chance in the rematch. They will need an extraordinary performance for such a thing.

Ludogorets and Sutjeska never played against each other before.
All players are avaialble for Ludogorets, while Dusan Vukovic is only questionable for Sutjeska.
In the past, Ludogorets had some shocking defeats in the Champions League qualifiers. In 2015, they were eliminated by Milsami and since then they take these matches very seriously.
Coach Simundza knows Sutjeska well and Ludogorets will surely want to finish everything in the first match. It is to be expected that Ludogorets will win with a minimum of two goals advantage, and if it happens, in the worst case the bet will be void.
