Kettering Town

This is 3rd Kettering season in the National League North since promotion from the 7th tier in 2019. In the previous two seasons, they were in the bottom half of the table when the season was suspended due to the coronavirus. This season Kettering is a little better than in the previous two seasons. They are 15th in the table with 22 points, only 4 points below the top 7 place.

One of the biggest strengths of this team is a very experienced manager Paul Cox. Cox took over in October 2019, and in his manager’s CV, he has experience in the Football League.

Kettering isn’t in good form, as they have only three wins in the last 12 games in all competitions, and they managed to keep only three clean sheets in the last 15 games. The results are very inconstant, which is the main problem with the team.

Another problem is results at home. Kettering is the team with more points won away from home than at their stadium. Only two wins at home and both against the two worst sides in this league – Blyth and Bradford PA.

Callum Powell is the top scorer with eight goals, but he scored only three times in the last seven games. Jordon Crawford is also in good form with four goals in the last three games.

Southport

Southport is the team that has been in one of the best forms in National League North since the start of October. The season started badly for them, and they were 22nd at the table at the end of September, but since then, they have had seven wins, two draws, and only one defeat in the last ten games! Only Gateshead won more points since the start of October than Southport.

Because of that good run, Southport climbed on the table from 22nd to 7th place. This is their 5th season in the National League North, and in the previous four, they always finished in the middle of the table or the second half.

Liam Watson is the manager of Southport, and this is his third mandate in the club. In total, he has been the manager of Southport for 12 years. This mandate, his 3rd in the club, started in 2018 after they were relegated from the National League.

As we said, Southport is in a very good run. They have six consecutive wins in all competitions and only two defeats in the last 17 games in all competitions.

Striker Marcus Carver is in fantastic form. He has 12 goals this season in National League North, and he scored 8 in the last nine games. The major improvement is Southport defense. In the first seven rounds, they did not had one clean sheet, but in the last ten games, they have six clean sheets. Four in the last five games.

Southport is without a defeat at home, but they must improve their results away from home. Right now, they are doing that. In the first four-game away from home, they lose all, but they have two wins and one draw in the last three.

Because of the difference in leagues, they only met each other in the previous two seasons. But, because of postpones, they only played two games. Southport won 1-0 last season, and in the previous was 1-1.
