Copenhagen
Copenhagen won the Danish Superliga last season for the first time after three years. They also played well in the Conference League as they won 15 points in a group with PAOK, Slovan Bratislava and Lincoln. However, they were eliminated in the round of 16 by PSV. After 4:4 in Eindhoven, they lost 4:0 at home.
Considering what was achieved last season, they didn’t change almost anything in their squad, although impression is that maybe they should have. Jens Stage was sold to Werder Bremen for four million euros, while Lukas Lerager was signed instead. Denis Vavro was also bought from Lazio after he played a very good half-season as a loan player.
In the first four rounds, Copenhagen played quite variable. They achieved two convincing wins against Brondby (4:1) and Aalborg (3:1), but they also experienced two unexpected defeats by Horsens and Viborg. There is no doubt that Copenhagen is the best team in Denmark, but it’s obvious that they are still nowhere near their best form.
Randers
In the last two seasons, Randers has played exceptional football for their standards. They finished in sixth place twice in a row, plus they won the Danish Cup in 2021. Thanks to that, they qualified for Europan football where they finished second in the Conference League group with AZ Alkmaar, Jablonec and CFR Cluj. In the knockout stage, Randers was eliminated by Leicester City.
Just like Copenhagen, Randers made almost no changes in their squad during this summer. Vito Hammershoy-Mistrati left for CFR Cluj, while Simon Tibbling and Simon Piesinger are no longer there either. The most important move on transfer market for Randers was the signing of Stephen Odey. He played as a loan player from Genk last season and after impressing everyone, he was brought in permanently.
Randers is still undefeated in the Danish Superliga this season. After three draws, they beat Horsens 1:0 last weekend and they are currently in sixth position. Randers won’t play in Europe this year, so full focus is on the domestic championship.

Four times these two clubs played against each other last season. Copenhagen won three times and Randers once. Interestingly, in all four matches the loser didn’t score a goal. In the last 10 games at “Parken” (Copenhagen Stadium) between these two clubs in the Danish Superliga, there was not a single draw. Copenhagen won eight times and Randers twice.
