Cheltenham Team News

This is the second season for Cheltenham Town in League One. Last season they finished in 15th place and now they are 17th after 37 games with 43 points and 12 wins.

Cheltenham isn’t safe yet. They are eight points above the relegation zone but they got into a fantastic run of results at the perfect moment.

They are four games without defeat in the league and they pick up 10 points in these games. Also, they have conceded only one goal.

They struggled a lot during January and February but this good run can come at a better time. The situation in Cheltenham is much better now and they can breathe.

In the last nine games, they will have five games against the clubs from the second half of the table, but for Cheltenham, that’s the problem. They are much better against the clubs from the top half.

Cheltenham has eight wins against the clubs from the top 12 in the table, in contrast to only four wins against the clubs from 13th to 24th place.

The problem with an attack is a big issue this season. Cheltenham has scored 32 goals and only three teams have scored fewer. They failed to score in 16 games this season.

Sheffield Wed Team News

The Owls were the league’s leader and 23 games without defeat. Everyone sees them as new champions but things changed.

Sheffield suffered two consecutive defeats in the space of a couple of days. Firstly, against Barnsley, and thereafter against Forest Green on Sunday.

They slipped into 2nd place with 78 points and 23 wins after 37 games and they are three points behind Plymouth, with a game in hand.

Ipswich is three points behind and Barnsley is six points behind with a game in hand. The situation became a little complicated for Sheffield and they must respond on Wednesday night.

Sheffield has a very acceptable schedule in the next couple of weeks. They will play six games in a row against the teams from the second half of the table. Their next six opponents are between 14th and 21st place in the table.

They have an excellent opportunity to return to winning ways and to return to first place in the table.

Sheffield hasn’t scored a goal against Forest Green on Sunday and that was a big surprise. That was their first game without scoring a goal since the middle of December.

Sheffield is one very experienced team, with very quality players for this rank. The average age of their starting XI is often more than 30 years.

They have the fourth-best attack with 64 goals scored and they failed to score in only five games this season. With only 28 goals conceded they have the best defence in the league and the most clean sheets – 21.

Injuries and suspensions

Cheltenham: Luke Southwood and Elkan Baggott are on international duty. Charlie Raglan is questionable.

Sheffield Wed: Josh Windass and Mallik Wilks are injured. George Byers is questionable.

Cheltenham vs Sheffield Wed Prediction

It will be one very tough game for Sheffield Wednesday, without any doubt. They suffered two consecutive defeats when Cheltenham, on the other side, got in the run of four games without a defeat.

Cheltenham knows how to make sides from the top 12 to suffer when they play against them and it will be no different this time.

Cheltenham has a centre-back and goalkeeper away on international duty and they must rotate.

We believe that Sheffield can win here and win very important three points. It will be a tight game, but they can win it.
