Bosnia and Herzegovina
After failing to qualify for the World Cup, Bosnia and Herzegovina turned to its obligations in the Nations League. In four games played so far, they won eight points and they are in first place before two decisive games.
With a win against Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina will win their group and thus earn promotion to the Nations League A group. In that way, „Dragons“ would also secure a playoff spot for the European Championship if they fail to qualify through qualifying. Head coach Ivaylo Petev won’t have few players at his disposal, but leaders Edin Dzeko and Miralem Pjanic are here. Roster will also include Sead Kolasinac, Eldar Civic, Gojko Cimirot, Muhamed Besic and Smail Prevljak, so there are several really good footballers in the team.
In previous two games at home, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Romania and Finland and now they are hoping for an identical scenario against Montenegro. Those two matches were quite different, and now we should expect a slightly more careful game from the home team.
Montenegro
Montenegro managed to surprise all football fans with excellent form in the Nations League so far. On paper, they were the weakest team in this group, but now they are in a situation where they might win first place.
They have collected seven points so far and if they beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zenica, they would almost certainly finish the competition at top of the table. Captain Stevan Jovetic will be in the team and they expected a lot of from of him. Head coach Miodrag Radulovic has done extraordinary things with this group of players and possible promotion to the Nations League group A would be a remarkable success.
Just like Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro certainly won’t rush too much in this match. For them, even a draw would keep theoretical chances for the first position, because Bosnia and Herzegovina will be visiting Romania in the last round, while Montenegro will play against Finland at home.
H2H
In third round of the Nations League, result was 1:1 when these two national teams played aganst each other in Podgorica. Before that, they had never met in an official match.
Injuries
Anel Ahmedhodzic, Rade Krunic and Luka Menalo are injured and they are not part of Bosnia and Herzegovina squad. Stefan Savic and Fatos Beciraj won’t play for Montenegro.
Bosnia and Herzegovina vs. Montenegro Prediction
Given the stakes, we shouldn’t expect any team to play offensively. A draw would preserve the chance for first place for both national teams, so it is not excluded that we will see a large number of fouls. At road, Montenegro always plays mostly defensively, while Bosnia and Herzegovina is not particularly offensive-oriented either. That is why we believe that three goals won’t be scored in this match.
