Temuco
After some good signs during the preseason, Temuco opened their account with two losses. However, they were more than competitive in the season opener narrowly losing to one of the strongest teams in the league Puerto Varas(73:72). After a very demanding game, less than a day later they had to play another title contender away from home, Las Animas and lost convincingly(80:67).
In the first two rounds, they were still without the help of their American imports. Both of them have arrived to Chile in the meantime and will debut in tonight´s game. Jahmere Howze joined Kyle Kilgore a week ago and will be available after going through quarantine. Presence of foreign imports should strengthen their solid and experienced domestic core and possibly even enable them to fight for the playoffs.
Deportes Castro
Castro is still waiting to sign their second American import and currently only have Demarco Owens available. With the exception of him and Venezuelan Luis Merida, all other players have limited quality and almost no top-tier experience. Because of this, they decided to strengthen their roster just before the start of the season with the addition of Romeo Ferguson who joined them after playing in the NCAA and NBA G-League.
They won in the opening round against Talca(71:60) but then suffered two straight defeats to the defending champions Universidad Concepcion(112:72) and Puerto Varas(74:67). After their last game, their coach Carlos Romano unexpectedly left the team and caused major shakeups in their roster. The team´s captain Daniel Arcos was unhappy with his departure and requested to leave the club. Board decided to keep him but leave him out of tonight´s game which means Castro will be without their coach and captain.
