Sydney Kings vs Melbourne United Prediction, Tips & Odds – Dec. 05, 2021

After a long wait new season of Aussie NBL starts this weekend with some very interesting games scheduled for this Saturday. However, since we only bring you value picks we decided to skip the opening two games and focus on one of the games scheduled for Sunday.
In Sydney, fans can not wait for the start of the new season to see their new star-studded Kings roster. Their former legend and current owner Andrew Bogut has built a very strong team with some respectable imports that should enable them to compete for the title. They will be led by former NBA players Jarell Martin and Jaylen Adams along with Jordan Hunter. They will be supported by a domestic lineup highlighted by names like Xavier Cooks, Angus Glover, and Dejan Vasiljevic who give them a great mix of youth and experience.
In addition, they decided to hire a new coach with American Chase Buford taking on the role after coaching in the NBA G-League. During the preseason and NBL Blitz games, they played some exciting up-tempo basketball as games were passing by. Qudos Bank Arena will be packed for their season opener this Sunday and they will want to impress their fans and give them a glimpse of what they are in for this season.
They will have a tough task since they host the defending champions Melbourne United. Even though United lost its best player Jock Landale, who went to the NBA, they still have more or less the same firepower like last season. Experienced leaders and veterans like Chris Goulding, David Barlow and Brad Newley were reinforced with proven scorers such as Nigerian Caleb Aguada and Dion Prewster. By far their biggest addition was former NBA point guard Matthew Dellavedova who expectedly imposed himself as the leader during the preseason.
They were not at the desired level during the NBL Blitz but their coach Dean Vickerman was not taking the games seriously. In difference to last season, he announced much more high-scoring basketball with his new high-octane rotation which should be visible immediately in this season opener.
Sydney Kings vs Melbourne United Prediction
Traditionally in the Aussie NBL blockbuster openers such as this game bring a very high tempo with a lot of shots and points. A huge plus for our bet is the fact these teams already played a couple of games during the preseason so they are already entering form. They actually met during the Blitz but it was very early on and both teams did not have complete rosters. United lost that game 80:75 but they were not taking it seriously as they mostly played their bench.
This Sunday things will be much different so with over 10 000 people in the stands we expect more than 170 points.
Prediction: Alternative Game Total – Over 170.5 points
ODDS: 1.68
