San Miguel have always been and always will be one of the main PBA powerhouses but their performance in the Governors´ Cup was nothing short of disappointing. The Beermen had a point to prove at the start of the PBA Cup and after the opening two rounds successfully reasserted their dominance taking down the Phoenix Fuelmasters(108:100) and the NLEX Road Warriors(100:92).
Their main star and legendary center June Mar Fajardo is healthy and already had two elite performances grabbing a total of 29 rebounds. As usual not a lot of teams can cope with his size so we can definitely expect some vintage performances from Fajardo as the tournament progresses. The rest of San Miguel´s roster has a lot of weapons to support him but they are still waiting for the arrival of their dynamic scorer Terrence Romeo. Even without his help, they have more than enough to win consistently but they will certainly need him when they face the heavyweights.

Magnolia Hotshots Team News
The Hotshots always have the potential to fight for silverware and threaten the top teams. In their opener against TNT they fought valiantly but in the end lost 78:72 with their star Paul Lee struggling to hit a shot. He missed the next game against the FiberXers in which his team wasted a double-digit lead and lost in overtime.
After two consecutive losses, the Hotshots needed a big performance and a win and they got both against Northport on Wednesday in a dramatic ending. With Paul Lee back to his oldself, the Hotshots controlled most of the game and enjoyed almost a double-digit lead at the half. In the second the undermanned Batang Pier dug deep as it seemed Magnolia would throw away another game. However, the Hotshots and their veterans finally stepped up when it mattered and achieved their first win of the season boosting their morale for the big clash against the Beermen.
