One of the main CBA title favourites, Shanghai Sharks, have really stepped up their game recently. In this second stage of the regular season in Changchun, they only suffered two defeats and won 11 games, which has them sitting at second place behind the leaders Liaoning. On the other hand, Qingdao is between a rock and a hard place at the moment experiencing a result and injury crisis.

Shanghai already played Qingdao during the first stage and won convincingly by more than 30 points(121:88). Qingdao was without imports then but at the same time Shanghai was still playing with only one import.
