Olympiacos

After a heavy defeat in game number two that was played in Greece, Olympiacos played two excellent games in Monaco and tied the series at 2-2. Kostas Sloukas had a shot that could have ended this series in the fourth game, but he missed so the decision on the passenger to the Final Four will be made in the fifth decisive match. Throughout the entire quarterfinal series, Olympiacos offense was in hands of Kostas Sloukas, Kostas Papanikolaou, and Sasha Vezenkov.

All three of them played well so far, with the occasional help of Tyler Dorsey and Thomas Walkup. The defense was also very good in all games except the second when Monaco destroyed them. Olympiacos have played their entire regular season to earn home-court advantage in playoffs and they are now in a position to play the deciding game on their floor in front of 12,000 loud fans. Five years have passed since they last played in the final four and they are very close to breaking that negative streak.

Monaco

Monaco has done impressive things in the last two years. 18 months ago, probably no one at the club could have imagined that they would be participants in the Euroleague, and even less that they would be in a situation where one game separates them from appearing in the Final Four. However, they managed to win Eurocup last season and now, by reaching the Euroleague quarterfinals, they have guaranteed themselves a place in this competition next year as well. This is a big step towards obtaining a permanent license to participate in the Euroleague. In the first four games of this series, the impression is that Monaco has not shown all their potential.

Mike James was shooting 2/16 for three points in the last two games and it’s hard to believe he will have three consecutive disastrous shooting nights. Dwayne Bacon took a big role in the offense, while Will Thomas and Paris Lee hit a few important shots. Head coach Sasha Obradovic shortened the rotation in the fourth game and this will probably be the case in the fifth game as well. The key to victory will be in good defense and stopping the Olympiacos guards.

H2H

In total, Olympiacos and Monaco have played six matches against each other this season and H2H is 3-3. The one who wins the seventh game will qualify for the Final Four in Belgrade.

The results of the first four games in the series are:

game 1: Olympiacos – Monaco 71:54
game 2: Olympiacos – Monaco 72:96
game 3: Monaco – Olympiacos 83:87
game 4: Monaco – Olympiacos 78:77

Injuries

Hassan Martin (Olympiacos) and Alpha Diallo (Monaco) didn’t play for their teams in recent games. Both of them are questionable for game number five, while all other players are available for both coaches.

Olympiacos vs. AS Monaco Prediction

After the first two games in this series were won quite convincingly by the teams, in the next two games the winner was decided on the last possession. Probably, we will see another thriller finish where the game could be decided at the last minute.
