New Zealand Breakers
Bottom-placed New Zealand Breakers have basically lost all playoff hopes and would need a miracle to make top 4. They will be playing the rest of the season for pride as will the Bullets whose playoff chances are also extremely slim. In order to make the playoffs both of these teams would more or less need to win all of their remaining games and hope their top 4 rivals lose all of their remaining games which most definitely won´t happen.
Even though the Breakers have continued to lose games recently, their roster has finally recovered from a very tough situation. Couple of weeks ago they were dealing with a lot of important absences and as a result, suffered some convincing losses.
Recovery started ten days ago when they had several players return in their big win over the Adelaide 36ers(84:75). Then came a dramatic overtime loss to one of the title favorites Perth who knocked down a buzzer-beater to take them down(104:102). That game was followed up with another clash against Perth in which they also had their chances but in the end, fell apart in the final quarter and lost by 10 points(95:85).

Brisbane have been one of the major disappointments of the season so far. Injuries and absences did affect their form but with the quality they had at their disposal, they definitely should have done better. One thing that influenced their season the most was the injury of their leader and best player Nathan Sobey. It came at the worst possible time right in the middle of the season which greatly diminished any hopes they still had of reaching the playoffs.
To say their recent form hasn´t been satisfactory would be an understatement. Throughout this entire season, their defense has been non-existent and their defensive woes continued in the last two rounds. They lost their last two games and what is even more worrying both were home losses as they play much worse outside their arena. First, they tried to keep up with the vice-champions Perth but completely vanished in the second half and lost by 12 points(95:83). Then came the local derby against Cairns who proved too much for them once again beating them for the third straight time this season(98:88).

New Zealand Breakers vs. Brisbane Bullets Prediction
Without Sobey spirits are low in Brisbane´s dressing room. On the other hand, the Breakers have almost all of their major pieces back in action except for one of their starters Finn Delany. These two teams last met a little over two weeks ago when the Bullets routed the Breakers in Tasmania(92:74). New Zealand were seriously shorthanded and barely had enough players to even play the game. This time situation will be different.
In addition, the game itself will be played in the Cairns Convention Centre, the home arena of another NBL team Cairns Taipans because the Breakers are not allowed to play their home games in New Zealand. Brisbane lost their only game in Cairns to the Taipans while the Breakers beat them so they should be feeling more comfortable in today´s neutral surroundings.
Pick: New Zealand Breakers to win (OT included)
