After an unexpected loss to Paulistano at home, Bauru´s struggles should continue away from home against one of the main title favourites Minas. Guests are currently in a very unenviable situation since two of their best players have been infected with the coronavirus. Their absence was strongly felt a couple of days ago when they lost to a mid-table team they should routinely beat at home. Today it will be even tougher for them because they are facing one of the best teams in the league that has suffered only one home loss so far this season.

After coronavirus decimated their team, Bauru find itself in an extremely unpleasant situation at the start of the year. Two of their best players and scorers, Larry Taylor and Rafael Hettsheimeir, will continue to be absent and in isolation which drastically weakens their team. In their maiden game of the year, they lost at home to an average Paulistano side who took advantage of their lack of size and won in a dramatic ending(98:97).

Bauru now faces a much tougher challenge in view of title contenders Minas. Without their starting center and point guard, away from home, their chances will be almost non-existent as more than half of their team will consist of junior players.

The home team is a much more formidable opponent compared to the one they faced in the previous round so another defeat is almost unavoidable. Even though Minas will not have their complete roster, all of their starters and most efficient players are available. That should be more than enough for a comfortable win at home where they have only lost once this season.

Minas vs. Bauru Prediction

Without their main center and rebounder, Bauru was outrebounded by a wide margin in their last game(38-26). With Minas having one of the best centers in the league, Tavario Miller, Bauru will once again have size issues and a huge mismatch in the paint.

Furthermore, hosts lost their last derby game to one of their main title rivals Sao Paulo so they will have plenty of motives going into today´s game. Overall, with Bauru´s current absences they are much better and should win more or less comfortably.

Pick: Minas -5.5
