Chile vs. Colombia Prediction, Tips & Odds – Feb. 26, 2022

After two opening defeats against Brazil, Chile will be looking for a key win at home in the second window of the FIBA Americas World Cup qualification. They will play in Valdivia at home which is of crucial importance in this continent. Along with roster issues Colombia are dealing with, that gives them a clear advantage going into this defining game of the qualifiers for both teams.
In the first window in Buenos Aires at a neutral venue they lost both games convincingly against Brazil. They were crushed by 24 and 26 points(77:53, 81:55) which is not surprising since they are far below the level of the top teams in Latin America. However, they do have solid quality and against teams such as Colombia they shouldn´t have too many problems despite some roster issues of their own.
They will be without Ignacio Carrion but have a very good core with players from domestic league. With the addition of two players from Europe, Ignacio Arroyo and Sebastian Herrera, their coach has been very optimistic stating he feels the group is looking very strong. They will be highly motivated after two heavy defeats from the start and this game at home is an ideal chance for their first win.
Colombia is also experiencing some roster problems. In difference to Chile, their problems are far greater as their national team has been severely impacted by key absences. Home team can cope with the absence of a couple of players because they have a large base of players. Colombia does not and as a result of several key absences their team is nowhere near its possible strength.
Colombians are out of form as their domestic league was taking place during summer and ended couple of months ago. Their coach won´t be able to acount on numerous key starters including Braian Angola, Juan Tello Palacios, Hansel Atencia and Andres Ibarguen to name a few. They have come to Chile with a below average team that will not be able to cope with any of the teams they are playing against.
In their opening games in Argentina they lost to Uruguay twice(83:75, 82:69) with most of their main stars keeping them competitive. This time they won´t have those players which seriously cripples their chances. A possible disaster could be on the horizon facing a very solid home team but Chile don´t have their best possible team either.
Chile vs Colombia Prediction
Nevertheless, Chile has much better quality which combined with home-court advantage should enable them to come away with a key win. Colombia will be without most of their leading scorers so the situation is not looking promising for them. Chilean players also have an additional advantage and that is good form because their domestic league started around a month ago.
These teams are more or less even when they have their best rosters available. With their current rosters home team has a clear edge and so does the handicap of -3.5. We expect a routine win by Chile of at least 4 or more points which shouldn´t be a problem against a mediocre and limited Colombian team that has arrived in very bad shape.
