Bayern Munich

This season, Bayern repeated the historic result in Euroleague by securing a place in the quarterfinals. They played a very brave series against much stronger Barcelona and were defeated 3-2 after five games. In the decisive match in Blaugrana, they had led after the first half, but they did not manage to make a sensation. Nevertheless, Bayern can consider this Euroleague campaign more than successful. Now, the full focus is on the Bundesliga where they unexpectedly lost the title last season. They lost 3-1 in the series against Alba in the final and now the primary goal is to get the title back in their possession.

Bayern will finish the regular season in Bundesliga in third place, but that doesn’t mean they won’t try to beat their biggest rival in front of home fans. One of the greatest qualities of all the teams coached by Andrea Trincheri is that his teams do not depend on the individuals but on team play and quality defense. Although they were left without Jalen Reynolds and Wade Baldwin this season, and quality replacements were not brought in, they remained at the same level of quality.

Alba Berlin

Aito Garcia Reneses decided to retire last summer. After that, Alba Berlin did not bring in a new coach. They put trust in Israel Gonzalez, a longtime Aito’s assistant. They promoted him as the new head coach and Gonzalez did a great job in his first season. Alba continued with good games in the Euroleague, while in the Bundesliga they secured the first place after the regular season and will have home-court advantage through the entire playoffs. Just like Bayern, Alba had a lot of problems and difficulties with injuries. Many players were absent very often, but Gonzalez found a way to make up for the absences every time.

Jaleen Smith replaced Peyton Siva who has been Alba’s main player for five years. Maodo Lo played probably the best season of his career, while the signing of two Israelis: Yovel Zoosman and Tamir Blatt turned out to be an excellent move. Alba does not have a result imperative on this visit to Munich, but they still do not have a victory against Bayern this season and they will try to change that.

Three times Bayern and Alba have played against each other this season and all three times Bayern have won. At home, Bayern is 14-2 in the Bundesliga, while Alba is 13-2 at road.

Darrun Hilliard is still recovering from injury, while Othello Hunter is questionable for this game. Corey Walden is back for Bayern but it’s unclear whether he will play in this game or not.

Marcus Ericsson is out for Alba. Oscar da Silva is questionable.

Bayern Munich vs. Alba Berlin Prediction

This game has no result significance, however, Bayern plays in front of their fans and it is never nice when you lose against a biggest rival in the domestic championship. Bayern is in good shape and should win in this match.
