The 2018 PBA Commisioner´s Cup champions are eager to open their campaign with a win and showcase their new reinforcements. The Kings brought back their old import Justin Brownlee and boosted their already talented roster with superstar Jamie Malonzo from NorthPort.
Another new player to keep an eye on is Von Pessumal. His numbers in recent years haven´t been stellar, but Ginebra´s coach Tim Cone plans to give him a different role than he had with the Beermen. Rain or Shine´s opener against the NLEX Road Warriors was one of the most thrilling games of the competition so far. The Elasto Painters were expected to open the Commisioner´s Cup in style with their old mastermind Yeng Guiao back, but wasted a 10-point lead from the first quarter and suffered a convincing defeat.
In the end they only lost by six points(96:90), but were down by as much as 14 with just minutes left on the clock. The Painters will try to redeem themselves against Ginebra, but they are facing a very difficult and ungrateful task against one of the title favourites.
