Australia Team News
After everything we have witnessed so far, it´s obvious the Boomers still don´t have any serious competition outside Europe and the Americas. After breezing past their opponents in the group, they put up another strong performance against Japan in the quarter-final and routinely secured a semi-final berth.
Japan were growing as a team and were turning into a title contender but just before their biggest clash against Australia they suffered a major setback. Their win over the Philippines in the addititional knockout round came with a high price as they lost their main stalwart and NBA player Yuta Watanabe.
He could only watch his team getting outplayed by a much more physical Australian side from the sidelines as it will always remain a mystery what would have happened if he was on the floor. The Australian team simply took advantage of the situation but this Saturday they should be in for a much more demanding game.
New Zealand Team News
New Zealand are going to have their hands full against the defending champions and the main title favourites. Australia are at least a class or two above the competition, but there is no doubt the Kiwi youngsters will give their all and try to mount an upset.
The Koreans entered the semi-final clash as the favourites against New Zealand but were struggling with some key absences. With the score being tied in the middle of the fourth quarter, the game was up for grabs, and it was the Tall Blacks who rose to the occasion.
The major absences in Korea´s roster came to bite their team as the end of the game was approaching. After a very slow start, Korea managed to come back and establish some control but they simply didn´t have enough firepower to finish off their opponents.
Australia vs. New Zealand Prediction
Many are expecting an exciting and tight clash but realistically Australia clearly have the better and more experienced team. New Zealand are actually not one of their main competitors for the title so we will back the Boomers to win and to cover the spread.
