Adelaide36ers vs Tasmania JackJumpers

Besides the Brisbane Bullets, the Adelaide 36ers have been the biggest disappointment of the Aussie NBL season so far. In a year in which a comeback was expected from once a title-contending team they failed to deliver. Subpar results they´ve had are a product of various absences caused by injuries and Covid along with some poor decision-making by their coach.

Adelaide currently find themselves mid-table at 8th place and out of the finals race. In their remaining games they will be playing for pride just like they were in their last round´s win over Melbourne Phoenix(100:92). When it was becoming clear they won´t be making the playoffs their home attendance dropped and then suffered an even bigger blow recently after the AFL football season began.

The 36ers are not a mere shadow of a team they used to be in 2018 when they boasted one of the most productive offenses in the NBL history. Exciting run and gun team led by superstars Nathan Sobey and Mitch Creek is now an average club that struggles to even get close to top 4 and the playoffs. They will need a major overhaul after this season if they want to compete for the title again and also a coaching change. Their new coach CJ Bruton has been making some strange decisions that cost them a lot of games including their last head-to-head clash with Tasmania. At the end of January when their playoff hopes were still alive they lost an already won game because they had no centers on the floor and gave away five offensive rebounds in the final minute.

As newcomers in the league, the Tasmania JackJumpers have been the most pleasant surprise of the season so far. After 26 long years Tasmania once again has an NBL team so not a lot was expected from the JackJumpers who have really impressed and are still fighting for the playoffs.

They currently sit at 6th place two wins behind top 4 and a finals spot so their intentions this Friday are more than clear. Playing at home has been their main advantage but what kept them in the finals race are their away wins. They achieved a couple of notable scalps away from home including a huge win over the defending champions Melbourne United in February. One of their most notable away wins came a week ago when they did the impossible and beat the Wildcats in Perth in their fortress in the remote west.

Not a lot of teams can say they won there so it seems the JackJumpers are not a fluke and will contend for the playoffs until the very end. They won their last five out of six games so they are arriving in Adelaide in hot form aiming for another crucial win after they took down the Bullets in Brisbane in the last round.

Adelaide 36ers vs Tasmania JackJumpers Prediction

Adelaide never looked like a real team throughout this season mostly relying on their individual quality while the JackJumpers probably have the best chemistry and a long rotation without any real superstars.

They need to win this game so we think they hold a slight upper hand entering this match and should be slight favourites. That is why betting on them to cover the +1.5 spread has very good value.

Pick: Tasmania JackJumpers (+1.5)
